Camp Rules
To maintain an environment that ensures the safety of all participants and equipment, all students are expected to follow these Camp Rules. This is an aviation camp, and we will be operating in environments where "rules" aren’t just rules—they are the standards that ensure a safe and successful experience for everyone. By following our Camp Rules, you show us you're ready to respect the protocols of our vendors and host facilities. This helps us stay a welcome group so that future students can enjoy these same incredible opportunities.
The following camp rules will be in effect during the entire duration of camp.
Camp participants who violate these rules may be withdrawn from the program and sent home.
-
Prohibited Substances: Alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, vaping products, and illegal drugs are strictly prohibited at camp. Non-compliance will result in an immediate dismissal.
-
Camp Badges: You will receive a camp badge at check-in. You must wear your camp badge with your name on it at all times. This is a mandatory security requirement for movement between facilities.
Identification (18+): For students 18 and older, you must carry the government-issued photo ID that you submitted in your application. You will be required to present this ID to security personnel again. Ensure this ID does not expire before coming to camp.
Identification (Under 18): While a government ID is not required for those under 18, we recommend carrying a school ID or a copy of your birth certificate as a backup.
-
Pay Attention: Every vendor and facility we visit is unique. It is vital to listen to Camp Staff and pay close attention to the specific briefings provided at each site.
Group Escort: Remain with your assigned group at all times. Do not wander off!
Restricted Areas: Entering any flight line or hangar without an escort is a major security violation for most of our vendors and may put you and others at risk of serious injury.
-
Clean Up & FOD Prevention: In aviation, "FOD" refers to objects (e.g., trash, pebbles, coins, or loose jewelry) that don't belong near an aircraft. Because even small debris can cause catastrophic engine damage, we must ensure our pockets are empty and all personal gear is secured. Keeping the facilities we visit debris-free ensures everyone’s safety and protects our future access to these sites.
-
Safety Gear (PPE): Safety gear required by our vendors—such as high-visibility vests, steel-toed shoes or hearing protection—will be provided on-site.
Hearing Sensitivity: If you are sensitive to loud environments, we recommend bringing personal high-fidelity earplugs (e.g., Loop).
Headphones: Headphones will not be allowed, as it is vital that you can hear safety briefings and staff directions at all times.
-
Clothing Imagery: Ensure clothing is free of profanity, violence, or inappropriate imagery.
No Ripped or Loose-Fitting Clothing: We will be in an environment where clothing can easily catch on equipment and cause serious injury. Dresses and skirts are discouraged as we will be climbing in and out of aircraft.
Mandatory Footwear: Closed-toe shoes (tennis shoes or boots) are required. For safety reasons, you will not be allowed on the flight line in sandals or crocs.
Etiquette: Remove sunglasses whenever entering a building or hangar.
-
Restricted Areas: For security and privacy reasons, photography may be restricted in hangars with sensitive maintenance or private jets. Check with your group before taking photos or videos.
Specific Subjects: Please refrain from taking photos of aircraft tail numbers or specific tail wing.
-
Room Assignments: All students must stay in their assigned room provided by the camp. Room swapping and "sleepovers" are not allowed.
Room-Check Protocol: Students must remain in their assigned suites after nightly room checks have been completed.
Security: There is 24/7 security present on campus. However, students do not have access key cards to campus buildings and are not permitted to walk around any facility unescorted.
-
Property Return: Please remember to return all linens and room keys before leaving camp.
Key Accountability: Lost room keys may incur a $100 replacement charge.
-
Medication: We utilize a self-administration policy. Students must be able to dispense their own dosage.
-
Camp will operate under a "Sterile Cockpit" cell phone policy.
Much like pilots refrain from non-essential distractions during critical phases of flight, students will be required to put phones away during instruction and tours.
Specific windows for phone use will be provided daily.
We encourage students who want to take photos during camp to bring a camera.
In the event of an emergency, please notify both the student and a Camp Director to ensure the message is delivered.
